NYSSMA Preparation

NYSSMA stands for the New York State School Music Association. This governing organization hosts a solo music festival in various districts every year. Students are required to prepared an adjudicated solo from the NYSSMA manual and perform a short sight reading excerpt. These adjudications serve as the audition for the county and state music festivals where students have the opportunity to perform in honor choirs with conductors from prestigious institutions. Many students from my studio are accepted into the all-county, all-state, and even all-eastern choirs each year.
